My apologies... I misread the topic! I thought you were hoping to move from one version of Windows 7 to another one.
Ultimately, you should be able to purchase a retail Window 7 Professional upgrade disc and install it over your Windows Vista operating system. If you have any concerns about compatibility issues, run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor first:
Just as a rule of thumb I try to avoid upgrades on workstations. If this is not an option, just make sure you computer does not have any issues on it before you do the upgrade. If it does, don't be surprised if they do not go away after the upgrade is complete.

as long as we are staying within the same architecture 32bit <> 32bit or 64 bit <> 64 bit, then you simply boot into Vista, insert the Windows 7 DVD, and run setup from the DVD
if you have always on internet then download updated installation files from microsoft
it will analyse your system and report any problem software i.e. deauthorize itunes before continuing..
if everything looks ok and no severe errors that stop the install and you've looked through the compatability report on your desktop and fixed things up
carry on wth the installation.. After an hour or so depending upon your existing system configuration it will complete and then voila you are in windows 7

Jcimarron, I'm glad to help... it's all for "the home team!" Occasionally the road is a bit bumpy along the way, but we almost always get there together! ;-)
