Measuring memory

I installed two 2 GB memory sticks in an HP Pavilion dv9723cl laptop - the specs (see attached) said the memory is expandable to 4 GB - the laptop had two 1 GB sticks in it before the new install of 4 GB.

"System" says I have 3 GB - it that because I have a 32 bit system? Do I really have 4 GB but it only shows 3 GB?
