How to auto populate a legacy form field in MS Word 2010 upon form open.

Hello,

I want to have the current date populate into a particular legacy text box when the form opens. I would also like to have the current logged in user's name appear in a legacy text box as well. Can this be done?

Thank you!

For current date you can use {FORMTEXT{Date }} and user name use {USERNAME \*Caps \ *MERGEFORMAT}. Use Alt+f9 to toggle the field codes.

You're welcome Riverwalk. I forgot to mention that by using Date, anytime you open the document it will show the current date. If you want to show the date that the document was written, you can use {CREATEDATE  \@ "MMMM d, yyyy"  \* MERGEFORMAT}

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Word is a commercial document editing program that is part of the Microsoft Office suite. It features numerous text-editing tools for creating richly formatted documents, along with tools for the use of macros in Word documents. Word's native file formats are denoted either by a .doc or .docx file extension. Plugins permitting the Windows versions of Word to read and write formats it does not natively support, such as the OpenDocument format (ODF) are available. Word can import and display images in common bitmap formats such as JPG and GIF. It can also be used to create and display simple line-art.
