asked on

on openoffice, what attribut could help to align my level2 style indepent of the width of the first auto letter ? picture is more explicit

hello experts,

i'm looking to align my style level_2 on my open office document,
the problem as you can see in the picture, attached to my post, is that the text has a constant space between the number, here numbers are "i", "ii", "iii", "iv" and the begining of the text.

i'd like to have same space from the begining of left margin page, indepent if its a "i", "ii", "iii" or a "iv".

thank you in advance for info concerning this matter.

Without knowing exactly what you have in the level_2 style it is somewhat difficult to help.  A simple fix is to highlight all the items with the style of level_2, then choose Format >> Bullets and Numbering >> Numbering Type Tab >> Select the numbering style you want.  You can also modify this numbering style on the Position tab.  On that tab just make sure that Numbering Followed by is set to Tab Stop.

hello ltblearand3,

is there a possibility for export the style config in a file that i could paste in here ?
Or should i take pictures of all the tabs presents in the level_2 ?

i'm not interested in changing for bullets, as my style_2 is present in my Index table.

thank you for further help.

Toshi,

You can just save the document and post it as an File attachment on this question.  Just make sure all confidential information has been removed.

You can also try these steps to see if they help:
Press F11 to open up styles and formatting
In the Styles and Formatting Window click on the List Styles button (5th button to the right)
right click then click new
Give this number format a name
Click on the Numbering Style tab
choose the style you want
Click on the position tab
In numbering followed by select Tab
Click OK to Save
Click on the Paragraph Styles button - far left
Right click on level_2 and choose modify
on the outline & numbering tab change the numbering style to the one you created
click OK

Hello ltlbearand3, master of vba and open office.

sorry for the delay,
but here i am with the file,

i'd like to be able to arrange the margin in order to have all the text starting at the same margin without depending on how long is the number on left ?
i think the picture is more explicit than my former explaining line ;)

btw,
What's your favorite language for developping inside OpenOffice?
Do you have some interesting link for developpment in open office that you would use and share here ?

i ask this because i follow your id and find out that you are a master in both excel and open office.
i could open a new question if you wish but i'd like to receive an answer by yourself,

thank you in advance for your help,
toshi
