SharePoint Filters not filtering 2010

I have just started working in SharePoint 2010 after having developed applications in SharePoint 2007.   I must be missing something simple because my filters are not filtering the data.  For experimentation purposes I am using the Adventureworks databse.   I set up 3 filters on the Product table.   Attached is what gets returned when I enter data in the filters.

can you set up one single list filter instead or three

make sure your connection from the filter to the list is correct.
then add multiple filters ..

best of luck.

Thank you for your comment.  I had already tried it with one filter which worked.  I went back and deleted the other two filters. Made sure the one filter for Product ID worked.  Then I added a filter called Color withAND as the operator and Ignore Filter if Null.    I used the Color filter = blue and it returned the appropriate blue items.  I added a filter called Name. I filtered on Name = HL Touring and Color ciontains "blue".  So the statement should now have read Where Color contains  "blue" and Name contains "HL Touring".  What it returned was all items where name contained HL Touring even if the Color was not blue.

Then I tried to filter on just the Color contains "blue".  It returned no items to show.    I added the filter for Name contains "HL Touring" and it returned the four items with HL Touring in the title that were blue.   I deleted the Name filter and tried the Color contains "blue" again.  Again I received the  No items to show.    Sharepoint is not returning consistant results.   Any suggestions?

Are you using those on the same list ?

Have you tried Or instead of AND ?

Yes I am using them on the same list.  Yes I tried OR instead of AND and the results were worse. Only the Color returned any output. The other two said No items to return.

looking at your list and the webparts you use, I am assuming your are not using SharePoint Custom List but a BCS connected List to your database .

Correct ?

If that is the case, then I cannot really assume that we can use (Equal) for Numbers
also Try your test on Text only fields and then retest .

thank you

Yes, I am using external content  connect with BCS.

Actually the ProductID filter works just fine.  It is the text filters I am having trouble with.

are you able to filter using the view itself ?

Sorry, I am not sure what you are asking.   I am connected directly to a table.  Are you asking if I can do sql statements on the table and get the results?

On the same view without using the Actions Filter ,
can you click on the Headers ( like Color etc ) and do sorting ?

if that is not the case , then only the metadata that are sort-able are possible candidate for filters.

Yes I can sort on all the columns.  This morning non of the filters are working.  I think I am in the twilight zone.   Thanks so much for all your help.

can you share the webparts you have on that page .
Set design mode and send a screen shot .

Also : the name could be mismatched with Title

test searching against Title .

I don't know what you mean by design mode in SharePoint.  I only have the one webpart on that page .  I put the screen in Edit mode and have attached a screen shot.   Title is not one of the field names in the Product table.

That makes sense

On you BCS definition , what make the Item ID?

that must be a valid value on your query otherwise your result set will be null.

I don't think there was an accurate solution to my question. SharePoint 2010 just doesn't work as well when filtering on more than one item as 2007.   I am going to have to write sql code to solve the problem.
