Can not access router
Hello Experts,
I have a Netopia ADSL Modem and Router from AT&T. IP: 192.168.1.254
When I type 192.168.1.254 in to the address bar of IE and press enter, it searches Bing for results of 192.168.1.254. I even tried http://192.168.1.254. Same thing... I was able to access it at some point before, bot sure what changed.
Also I am sure the Router IP is 192.168.1.254. Confirmed by Default Gateway on LAN.
Any ideas?

Try https:\\192.168.1.254 just in case it's configured to only allow secure connecitons.

1: No Proxy
2: IP = 192.168.1.10 Default Gateway = 192.168.1.254
3: Definitely typing into address bar
4: I can ping no problem.
I am not physical there, but I can try to have someone restart it.

I had the onsite guy do a power cycle but still same issue. I guess the next step is a hard reset, which have to go onsite to do.
Any other suggestions?

The IP is 192.168.1.254 I didn't forget it.
Nothing is in between the router and the PC.
Windows firewall is disabled.
Cant access it from outside using public IP.

Try Firefox and see if you get the same results.

I did already, same thing....has to be the router for sure then huh?
Maybe check your hosts file for an entry with that IP. It is strange that it would do this and work OK for your gateway.
I assume you have re-booted the router.
Can you access it from another workstation?

Hosts file looks normal: 127.0.0.1 localhost
I did a power cycle and the same issue. I tried accessing from other workstations and the same result.
Really freaking weird. I know the hard reset will fix it, but what can cause this to happen and have it still function normally for my gateway?

You didn't mention if you could ping the gateway IP.
I am assuming you are hardwired to the router, - (not connected w/ wireless)
Most wireless routers do not allow programming access via wireless (for security reasons).
I'll have to think about this one.

We are hard wired into the router.
Third post:

if the router got the html management disabled/stopped/etc that would explain it...
can't you acces it by telnet/ssh ?

Hard Reset fixed the problem. Thank you!
Try doing a soft reset on the router (just pull the power, then plug it back in). If that doesn't work, you might have to do a hard reset...
Also make sure you have double-checked the basics, even if they are trivial:
1) Your computer does not have a proxy configured
2) Your IP address is valid and in the same subnet as your router (e.g. 192.168.1.xxx)
3) You are not typing into a search bar by accident
4) You can ping the router
