While installing oracle it is asking for hostname.
my machine name I want to put newrac
how will I modiy the default one below you suggest to put..based on usual naming convention..

ok basically substitute localhost.localdomain with my ipaddress
Substitute it where? I'm not understanding the real question here.
use your ip address or youmachine.yourdonain.or .com or whatever

Oracle configs work best with ip address.

But we are in the process of installing the machine..Then how we will get the ip..

Ask your network group for an IP address for this machine. Someone in your organization should be responsible for tracking ip addresses and assigning new ones.
FYI: If your shop is all DHCP, Oracle servers really prefer static IP addresses. You should try to get one for Oracle servers.

I suggest using the IP address instead.
