Is there any software/utility available to scan a file server for recently added Folders/Files sorted by Date/Size?

Hi,

I Have a File Server 2003. About 100 users use this server to save files everyday. Recently, I am loosing huge amount space from my Data Folders...like 3-4 GB a day. My guess is someone is un-intentionally copying data that is not necessary. My problem is, there are about 20 main folders under shared Data....and then we have several other sub-folders under those main folders. Because of all these folders, Windows explorer timestamps are not that helpful to find recently added folder.

So, I was looking for a software/utility that can scan my 'Data' volume and give me a snapshot of what folders/files were added datewise/sizewise.

Any Help/advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Try windirstat.

Hi,

There are a few tools you can use to do this and they are free.

WinDirStat - http://windirstat.info/ - most of my collegues use this one (give this a try first).

Use this free utility to track down where your disk space has gone.  See which users, departments and file types are taking up valuable storage.  You can also use it to easily locate folders containing hidden music, movies & games etc.  The GUI takes a little getting used to, but with a bit of practise you will be able to spot duplicated file structures too.

JDisk Report - http://www.jgoodies.com/freeware/jdiskreport/  - I use this but you will need java installed.

The tool analyses your disk drives and collects several statistics which you can view as overview charts and details tables

Hope this helps.
