Simple question, If you delete a bunch of mailboxes from your mailbox store, then you delete them from disconnected mailboxes, and you move some more mailboxes from that same mailbox store to a different database, will the exchange database file size "mailbox database.edb" eventually get smaller by online defragmentation or is the only way to make it smaller is by running eseutil /d offline defrag(which is just a major headache)??

The physical size will only get smaller with an offline defrag (eseutil /D)

Online maintenance/defrag will shrink the size of the logical database and will free up White space for re use by Exchange.

those 3 mailbox will revert back to old server

Commented:
Yep, those 3 mailboxes will be still on the old server and any of their content that reached the target server will be deleted by exchange

Commented:
Online maintenance / online defrag does not shrink the size of the PHYSICAL database.
