I decided to learn about Oracle and installed it on a Windows 2008 R2 test server. I download the Oracle Admin in 2 day PDF.  I installed Orcle on my test server but cannot get the Enterprise Database Control webpage to come up.

I trid typing in http & https://server:1158/em and keep getting page cannot be displayed. I look under windows services and did not see and services for the console. I only install disk 1 but I konw durning the install I had a number of errors stating is could find a file on the local install source which didn't make sence becuase I was install to that localation..

Anyway, I have no idea how to uninstall the appication or if my current install is even setup or running. I did install Java

It sounds like you do not have a complete install.

Did you download and extract everything you needed?

The 11gR2 download install has 2 disks (2 zip files). You missed disk2.

But how do you install disk 2 I do not see a setp.exe. also how do you uninstall disk 1

You unzip it into the same folder as disk 1.

Check the readme that should have come with disk1.

You shouldn't need to unisntall disk1.  Just choose the same install folder.  If you want just run setup.exe and remove the currently installed products.

From the download site:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/112010-win64soft-094461.html

Directions
    1. All files are in the .zip format. There is an unzip utility here if you need one.
    2. Download and unzip both files to the same directory.
    3. Installation guides and general Oracle Database 11g documentation are here.
    4. Review the certification matrix for this product here.

Usually I drop both files into something like C:\stage11.2

Then I use Winzip -> "Extract to here" on each zip

Ok I unzip both into the same local which seem to be working better. I tried to deinstall my first install via the GUI but stated I needed to run the deinstall.bat

I ran the batch fiel but it didn't uninstall oracle. :-(

I'm confused.  Is the new install running and installing over the first try
Or
Are you stuck at being able to uninstall?

If you still want to uninstall, I suggest a manual uninstall.  It involves editing the registry.  If you are not comfortable with this, I would not tey.

If you are OK with it, Google around for: Oracle manual uninstall.  There are several papers on the steps.

When you created the database you were asked to set passwords for the admin accounts: SYS and SYSTEM.

When you set up dbConsole you should have also been asked for a SYSMAN user password.

'default' depends on what tasks you wish to perform while in dbConsole.

The SYSTEM account is the original DBA level account and can be used.
