AutoCad LT 2011 update 1.1 is still a bit choppy when working with wireframe

We have a toshiba tecra S11 laptop with a NVS 2100M video card, 4GB RAM (1.5GB unused), i7 M640 processor, Windows 7 pro x64.
I have:

- updated the video driver (which has helped a little bit)
- updated the Autocad software to update 1.1 (which helped a little bit)
- Windows updates are not working, so, I'm manually downloading SP1 at this time and hoping that helps.

The user is just manipulating an image that was a .pdf, and all he does is start to create a new wire box, and when he moves the box around, it's choppy (almost like it's caching his mouse movement, then dumps the cache all at once so it's like going from slow mo to super high speed in a few moments!).

I've tried the 3dconfig command to select the rendering card and get "unknown command 3dconfig"

Turning off "desktop composition" increased the speed noticeably for the user.  Too bad I wasn't able to use the 3dconfig command, I really wanted to make sure it's using his rendering card.
