Is there a limit on the amount of characters for the /tr parameter for schtasks?

Hi There,

I have a batch file that takes in quite a few parameters from the command line interface to execute properly.  Is there a limit to the length of the /tr parameter for the schtasks command?  The reason I ask is that sometimes I've received errors from cmd.exe that state that a command cannot be longer than 259 characters.  Can anybody shed some light?

Thanks!

Windows accepts only paths with less then 259 characters.

So a path is different from the parameters that follow it.  Are parameters that are included in a batch file part of those 259 characters?

Yes with parameters you are adding to the path

Thank you for pointing me to that link and for the follow up to my second question.

I just found this KB article that seems a bit different than what you pointed me to, and slightly more relevant to my question.  I'm just posting this for anybody else who stumbles along here:
