Server 2003 Group Policy problems if My Documents redirect

I am trying to set up a redirect on XP laptops so that when a user logs in their My Documents is redirected to their network folder (Their username) on for example the A: . We have it set up with "basic redirect everyones folder to the same location". We would like to specify the drive it redirects to but it corrects it to "//%homeshare%%homepath%".

But it seems to work for some users and not others.

We have:
Always wait for network before startup or login [enabled]
Folder sync turned off
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\System\Group Policy. slow link detection. set to 0.

Any help would be great thanks.

What you could do is map a drive via the home folder(AD under profile on the users account) to the network share for each user and then change the path to the my documents folder on the users account to the network drive
