Microsoft System Centre Service Manger Total Incidents For the Day

We are recently implementing Microsoft System Centre Service Manger which has been a steep learning curve.

One of the simple tasks that we should do is to be able to display the number of incidents that have been logged but not assigned to a user as well as the total number of incidents for the day on a big LCD TV in the IT Department.  There would appear to be a number of ways in which this can be done and would like your advice on the best option.

1.      Use the SDK Kit which looks very complicated to achieve a simple task.
2.      Write a Power Shell Script in and output this to a data grid.
3.      Access the data directly from Sequel Server.
I would appreciate any advice on which of these three options you would think would best solve this problem.
