Trying to find something in Sharepoint 2010

Greetings-
This is probably an easy question for most of you and one that makes me feel a little stupid but I'm new to the look of Sharepoint 2010, coming from a MOSS 2007 environment.  In MOSS 2007, you were able to click on a web application and then search that application to find a specific site collection (i.e. click on "Mysite" and then search for the individual's mysite page)
First - is this type of search possible in 2010 and
second - where is it or how do I get there (see??? -- the stupid part!)

Are you using Windows auth and importing user profiles, then if you click the user profile service  there is a link to the user profiles. You can search for your person in there. You can also see if the user has a mysite.

You can also use powershell

$WebApp =  Get-SPWebApplication -Identity http://MysiteWebApplication

$WebApp.Sites
