I have a Cisco 2950 with standard image and need to limit all traffic on a per port bases. 1MB, 2MB, 5MB, 10MB, etc increments. I have been reading that the standard image can't do this but the Enhanced image can but what is not clear is if it can be limited in both direction or just one direction?<br />

Can it be done on a VLAN or just physical ports only?<br />

Is it still possible to get a Enhanced upgrade from Cisco?<br />

Cisco 2950 Limiting

A switch is a device that filters and forwards packets of data between LAN segments. Switches operate at the data link layer or the network layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) Reference Model and therefore support any packet protocol. LANs that use switches to join segments are called switched LANs or, in the case of Ethernet networks, switched Ethernet LANs. A hub is a connection point for devices in a network.
