Cisco 2950 Limiting

I have a Cisco 2950 with standard image and need to limit all traffic on a per port bases. 1MB, 2MB, 5MB, 10MB, etc increments. I have been reading that the standard image can't do this but the Enhanced image can but what is not clear is if it can be limited in both direction or just one direction?

Can it be done on a VLAN or just physical ports only?

Is it still possible to get a Enhanced upgrade from Cisco?

Thanks

the 2950 only comes with the standard image and it is not possible to upgrade to the enhanced image.

applying policy maps can be done in both in and out directions. It can also be applied to vlans.

So it does require the enhanced image?

for use of class maps and policy maps you will need the enhanced image.

Does your switch model match one of the switches in the beginning of the document I posted? the following is a list of 2950's that do come with Enhanced Image:

• Cisco Catalyst 2950G 48-48 10/100 ports and 2 Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC)-based Gigabit Ethernet ports
• Cisco Catalyst 2950G 24-24 10/100 ports and 2 GBIC ports
• Cisco Catalyst 2950G 24-DC-24 10/100 ports, 2 GBIC ports, DC power
• Cisco Catalyst 2950G 12-12 10/100 ports and 2 GBIC ports
• Cisco Catalyst 2950T 24-24 10/100 ports and 2 fixed 10/100/1000BASE-T uplink ports
• Cisco Catalyst 2950C 24-24 10/100 ports and 2 fixed 100BASE-FX uplink ports

With the standard image you can use QoS based on traffic priority as it supports WRR, but if you want to limit the bandwidth specifically I believe you need to have the EI image.
