how to create adhoc with specific 802.11 standard

i have a wireless adaptor that support 802.11n, when creating adhoc network, by default it creates a 802.11n network, but i have some devices ie. iphone only support 802.11g network.
so i wonder if there is any way i can manually select which wireless standard when creating adhoc network

The adapter should be backward compatible. It should have an  option to enable g in its settings? What type of host )Windows?) is this adapter in?
See if your driver has any settings for Independent Basic Service Set.
BSS is for connecting to APs; IBSS is ad-hoc.
