iis 7 url rewrite and asp.net

Hi,

I would like to implement friendly urls to my website. I have a Windows dedicated server with iis 7 on and am using asp.net 3.5.

I have my own script that I wish to run during the request lifecycle that gets the 'real' url when a friendly url is used and so need to know what I have to do to make this happen. What I know so far...

1) I have read you can change iis 7 so it passes control to the .net engine without the need for a file to have a .aspx extention.
2) I have read a bit about the web.config to set up a handler.

I am not sure how to piece all of this together though. Ideally I don't want to touch iis 7 but would rather have a handler run my script when there is a request that has no extention like .aspx.

My question is, what do I need to do to make this happen?

Thank you for your time with this.

Hi,

Your website application pool must be in Integrated mode if you want to use url rewrite. If its in classic mode then url rewrite rules will not work for your website.
Thanks for your responses. I have written my own url rewrite module which didn't fit into any suggested solutions.
