Running Windows 7 Professional and Windows Media Center with a Hauppage Dual Tuner installed. Currently recording TV from over-the-air digital signal, but would like to hookup a cable box instead and use WMC as a DVR, controlling the cable box from WMC.

You can, but you won't record in HD.  And you'll need an IR blaster to change the channels.  I used to use one.

As a note, you could switch to Cable or FiOS and use a CableCard based tuner (I use a Ceton quad tuner in my media center, but CableCard is not available for use with Satellite).

Currently?

I use FiOS with a CableCard and the Ceton Quad Tuner card - works great.  HD recording... 4 tuners at once (USUALLY not using all 4, but occasionally it happens).

I had been using a Hauppauge 1950 (I think that was the model - a USB based tuner with IR blasters to change the channel on a cable box.  Unfortunately, due to DRM, you pretty much NEED a CableCard OR to use Over-the-air tuners.

I am using the Hauppauge 2250 dual tuner. It has an input for S-Video and composite to allow for connections from a cable box. I think I've found my answer on the Hauppauge website. Thanks.
