I have installed ajaxToolkit in Visual Studio 2008 C# and I can see the Ajax toolkit controls in the Toolbox but I cannot drag and drop it to the Design window.

Looking at other tutorials, if I try to place:
<ajaxToolkit:CascadingDropDown ID="ccd1" runat="server" ServicePath="CascadingDropdown0.cs.asmx" ServiceMethod="GetVendors" TargetControlID="VendorsList" Category="Vendor" />

I get error: "unknown server tage: ajaxToolkit:CascadingDropDown".

I get error if I put this line in the .aspx page:
<%@ Register Assembly="AjaxControlToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" TagPrefix="ajaxToolkit"%>

Could not load file or assembly 'AjaxControlToolkit' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

What version of visual studio are you running? Also are you running this project locally?

Make sure it's in your web.config as well.

Make sure the proper dll's are in your bin folder and look for:

<controls>

         <add tagPrefix="ajax" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" assembly="AjaxcontrolToolkit"/>

</controls>

in web.config

Thank you.

I added
<controls>
         <add tagPrefix="ajax" namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" assembly="AjaxcontrolToolkit"/>
</controls>

And it compiles now.
