i have a client who almost lost everything including his mirrored drives.
i did a search on BEST BACKUP SOFTWARE and a list of 18 programs came up. not one was the ACRONIS backup software that comes with Western Digital internal hard drives. The software is limited that is included with the drive so i plan on buying the upgrade for $29.99.
One big concern is that the SQL 2008 Express data base which consist of 2 files be backedup without having to stop and start the SQL Services under the SQL Configuration Manager. Acronis documentation says it has some technolgy that will do this. i guess it is like the Symantec Backup Exec open file option that will backup open files.
is there anything wrong with Acronis software or is it as good as anything at backing up a single XP Pro pc to a external hard drive? it does create a bootable Linix if the drive will not boot
We also plan on using Mozy or Carbonite for off site backups. i have considered doing this myself using a Buffalo or QNAP product for clients and charging them the monthly fee myself
Sorry for the long post but it took me over 40 hours to get this sytem up and running with the programs it uses..
Another very good software for backups is Symantec Veritas, but it's very expensive and some of its modules you have to buy it apart.
Hope it helps. Regards.
