PowerPoint 2007: Animate Object onstage and THEN fade in?

Hi Experts,

Is it possible to do something like this in PPT 2007:

1. Insert text outside the stage space
2. Animate the text into position using a motion path (transparent - unseen)
3. Fade the text in (when it's in the correct position)

??

I want to create a rather complex sequence of events in one slide, but I don't want to overlap text all of the stage space.

So, I guess I'm asking if it's possible to do a "transparent" motion path.

I would appreciate any thoughts, but do apologize if this has been asked elsewhere.

Thank you!!

Hello,

why bother with the motion path if it won't be visible?

What does not work for you if you place the text in the correct position and then fade it in? What makes a motion path required?

Can you post a sample slide with some dummy text to illustrate the issue?

cheers, teylyn

Hi teylyn,

Thank you for responding.

I've tried to create a very simplified version as an example. I'm trying to fade in several different pieces of text into the same spot, but I don't want them being seen moving along the path, I just want them to fade up in the same location in the presentation. I'm not sure if that makes sense. My reasoning behind this is somewhat long and convoluted, but it has to do with the fact that I'll be outputting this presentation using Articulate Presenter as a SCORM 1.2 presentation, and it is going to be translated into 12+ languages, so I'm trying to keep the file as "neat" as possible, and not have text all jumbled up on the screen in the working/main .ppt file. I need to pass the main master file along, so that other individuals can insert the translations. I'm also trying to keep the actual slide count as low as possible, which is why I'm not creating a new slide for each piece of text. Articulate Presenter doesn't allow slides to change seamlessly, there is a harsh transition between slides, so if I need 5 slides to convey one main idea it will be real choppy.

I'm not sure that such a thing is possible. But I thought if there was a way, someone here would know. I hope this somewhat makes sense.

Thanks!

You know what. I take it back. If I keep things in the identical location among slides, the transitions between slides are not that bad. So, with that said, I'll just make each new change a new slide. teylyn, thank you for responding I'm awarding the points!

Hello,

You can have all text elements as overlapping objects, then set an Entrance and an Exit animation for each of them. If you need to edit a particular text, you can click the topmost element and then click Send to Back so the next object in the stack becomes the topmost and can be edited.

see attached.

cheers, teylyn

Oh, very interesting. I see what you mean with that... I'll use this technique, if I decide the slide option won't work. Thank you again for your help. I appreciate your time. :)
