I need to install a Web GUI driver for a HighPoint RR2340 card in a FreeBSD environment. I have zero experience with FreeBSD, and am looking for detailed / step-by-step help.

So far I have downloaded the driver file (WebGUI-FreeBSD-v1.4-13-100917.tgz) from http://www.highpoint-tech.com/USA_new/series_rr2300.htm . I can either copy it onto a USB HD or a CD-ROM, but all else is a mystery to me. Please help.

You can scp it to your home directory on a freeBSD system with WinSCP

(descructive step - may change system drivers and config and make unbootable system where you need to edit fstab in single-user mode with VI editor)

pkg_add -v -v your.tgz

Please post all warnings you get (if any)

PS i could not find a file you have behind the link you posted.

Hi, I don't seem to be able to scp into my FreeBSD box. I use Cyberduck using option "HTTP/SSL" (port 443). It asks me to confirm the security certificate hostname/IP mismatch, and then it simply displays (after a long wait) a blank directory.... See attachment Security cert

SSL has nothing to do with SCP.

you need to use SCP aka file transfer over SSH. Since you use MAC - install openSSH client and use SCP command installed alongside.
