Is there an equivalent to POST_EVENT for MySQL?

Hi,
I am converting a database from Interbase/Firebird to MySQL.
One of the stored procedures triggers an event in Interbase using the POST_EVENT command.
Is there an equivalent to this functionality in MySQL?
Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards,
James

Hi,
Thanks for the input... I don't suppose you have any examples of this when used in conjunction with stored procedures/functions?
Thanks...
