cisco nexus 5k - rx pause incrementing

I have a nexus 5k with a few servers that are experiencing slow performance. On those servers' 10 gig ethernet ports, the RX PAUSE value is incrementing.

Please explain what this behavior may indicate. Thanks!

I'm not sure how else to state this question, so I'll go with this...

Based on what you have said, it is obvious that the connection is pausing / stopping transmission.

Can you provide some insight as to how the connection behaves as a result of this? i.e. window size reset, tcp-reset, etc?? Other than the obvious pause, why does this slow down connections to such an extreme?
