My CFO had a Blackberry with a large list of ringtones that he had downloaded.  He now has a droid and wants to be able to use his old ringtones from his Blackberry.  The Blackberry ringtones all end ma4.rem.  I have searched the web for a reliable file converter but have yet to find one.  Can anyone suggest an application ( preferably free but does not have to be ) that could help me solve this issue ?

Thanks in advance.

The issue seems to be with the .rem extension ?  Renaming the file does not work.  I believe I read somewhere that the .rem extension shows that it is an encrypted Blackberry file ?

yes it is
I don't know if this will work but its worth a try. Transfer the files to a PC then..
1) Download VLC player: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
2) Install
3) Open up VLC
4) Media> Convert / Save > Add > Select File (ringtone) > hit Convert / Save
5) Destination File> Pick folder
6) Profile> Audio MP3
7) Start

If this doesnt work try downloading a codec pack like http://www.cccp-project.net/ and then repeat 1 to 7 but thats more for videos but still might work.

Failing that sorry not sure of a convector dedicated to just .rem

Thank you for the suggestion however it did not work.  I am still searching for a method to do this but I am starting to think it is impossible.
new idea, install uTorrent and download the songs/ringtones again from piratebay.. there is probably even a ringtone pack you can download in one go.
