"Offline or receive buffer full" on Epson 6000II printer

I get this error when printing a self-test on the printer.  Has anybody ever seen this error?

How do I flush the buffer?

Do I need to send it off for MainBoard repair?

Your message would indicate that it is the RS-232 model.  Since they are available with parallel, USB, or RS-232; which is it?
Your first troubleshooting step is to hold down the feed button while turning it on which should print an internal self-test.  If that does not work, unplug the communications cable and try it again.  If that works, plug the printer into another computer and try it there.  It could be a problem at either end of the cable so you need to see if its the POS end which is bad.
