Hello everyone,

My Boss wants me to create a script ( ether power shell or vb) to move previous nights job logs in to different directly and delete from its current location. I know I need to use "fw logswitch" and "fwn logexport" script that will move to a different file directly (i.e D:\ drive), zip it up, and delete the current on on the log file on C:\drive on nightly bases. Does anybody have any ideas...

I would not suggest that using VB or powershell to do this sadly.

Basically CP requires its own type of commands that you mention here, in order to maintain integrity, but there is no harm in creating scripts to move the "old" files to somewhere else.

Note that when we issue the "fwm logswitch", we create several, not just one file, that relates to the logs.

And if we move the files, we must maintain the integrity of ALL the files we move to ensure that if we wanted, we can reopen the files using smartview tracker in a correct manner

But is there a way to do so after the "fw logswich' and "fwn logexport" is completed.  If you have a script that may help.. that would be great..
Sorry bud, I dont have an example windows based script to use sadly, I am more of a linux man for this hehe.

I will refer to more windows oriented experts here but can confirm if the scripts will do what you need with regards to the CP files.
