Hello,

I´m currently trying log parser for some advanced searches in logs and I´d like to know the pros and cons with this tool.

Another thing is if it sends alarms or sending logs or traps

Thank you

It's a query tool, it is not a service so it doesn't providing any alarming capability.

It's a very powerful and useful tool for analyzing logs and there is limits to what it can do but that is by design and not a con.  I use it to push IIS logs into SQL databases for detailed analytics but that isn't a must do way of processing logs.

Search the web for samples and try them out.  It couldn't imaging working without it.

I love the tool, because it uses SQL query syntax, so it wasn't a big learning curve for me.  It is a very useful utility for what it does, but it doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, as was pointed out earlier.  The funny thing is that I was just looking at a way to extend the parser to process a fairly complex, and text-filled log that has no rhyme or reason.
