did you restart?

After you uninstall Internet Explorer 9, the previously installed version of Internet Explorer will be available on your computer. It is not necessary to reinstall.

did restart- it did NOT put 8 back on...

it dosent work with the software we use
What doesn't IE9 do? That may help diagnose the problem.
Reinstall IE9 from a newly freshly downloaded copy (using another PC if needed).

To install either IE8 or IE9 run System Update Readiness Tool first

For the future--Maybe you uninstalled IE9 incorrectly.  Is it right that the PC had IE8 on it before you installed IE9?  In that case you uninstall from Control Panel |Programs and Features|View Installed Updates and look under Microsoft Windows section "Windows Internet Explorer".

Check in the registry for this subkey, value of "IsInstalled".. Make sure it is set to a "1"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\>{26923b43-4d38-484f-9b9e-de460746276c}

It dosent work because the company that supplied the software says it does not.- not ready yet.
It HAD IE 8- the user clicked the "you have new updates" and instlled it without asking
I removed IE9 by unchecking it in th ewprog/features area in control panel
i have rebooted

wrong spot.. go back and enable it in program features.  go to windows update, search installed updates, remove ie9 from here.. right click and hide it.

ok will try
Ususlly, to uninstall IE9 is Control Panel -> Programs and Functions -> Installed Updates. You can uninstall IE9 from here!

If ie9 was uninstalled properly then ....go to control panel ...program and features...click on turn windows feature on and off...and then put a check on internet explorer..click ok and then reboot.

You will get u r internet explorer back.

Just to ensure that we are absolutely clear on the correct terminology, the correct path to properly remove an IE9 upate is as follows:

Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> View Installed Updates (on the upper-left)

Scroll down until youfind Windows Internet Explorer 9.  Highlight and click the Uninstall button.

As an alternative, you can open a command prompt with elevated privileges and execute the following:

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-*9.*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

Open in new window
