HP Designjet 5000 64 Bit Drivers - Can 5500 drivers work?

We have a HP Designjet 5000ps plotter that I am trying to get loaded onto some new Windows 7 64 bit machines.  There is not a 64 bit driver available for this plotter.  There is a driver for the 5500 version of the plotter.

Does anyone have any insight into using the 5500 driver for a 5000 plotter?

Have you tried plugging the Designjet straight into the computer? Windows Update may find something...

Windows update already tries to find the drivers when I select it from the shared print server.  It grinds for a while then says "No Drivers Found......"
I would suggest trying a direct connection temporarily.

I would also suggest getting the 5500 driver and unzipping it (use 7-zip if you don't already have it). Then, when the printers wizard asks for the path to the driver, give it the unzipped path and see if it allows it.

Failing that, look for Vista 64-bit - these drivers should work fine on Windows 7.

I tried the 5500 drivers and it semed a little wierd.  I will try it again.

Did you do any special configurations or settings??
No, I just installed and it works.
Just thought it was funny that the link above is in Italian?
Except it was in Italian!  :) - Just kidding.  The 5500 drivers worked great!
Dennis thank you for your feedback.
The english version of the driver is in the later post.
