Symantec Backup Exec 11d Directory was not found

My full back ups keep on failing due to "directory Profiles\username\cookies was not found, or could not be accessed. None of the files or subdirectories contained within will be backed up"

So far what I have done is go into the selection list and check off/check on the drive. Then, I just cleared all the logs that are in the directory and I am awaiting for results this evening.

If deleting the logs in the directory is not effective, what other measure should I take?

Thanks,

By unselecting those files/folders - this will prevent the problem from happening again.

Also ensure your backup service account is a member of backup operators.

I have seen this before and rectified it by re-creating the job list from scratch.
Try this and let me know how you get on.

basically, this is a selection list issue.

when creating a selection list, you specify which fodlers to backup and it just works out the contents of the folders at time of backup.

if you drill down and select folders specifically, it looks for the specific folder instead of working it out automatically.

Where possible, select the highest top level folder you can manage so that all contents are worked out automatically.
You may need to start a new selection list or reset the backup status of problematic folders (by deselecting the parent folders)

I created the job from scratch and the issue still occurs. Pointing to the same directory. I have also manually unselected/selected the folder and still no luck..Can this be a bug?

Please help

So I just noticed that the server is selected under "Domains" and "User-defined Selection. I think this is why unselecting cookies hasn't worked.

Although I recreated the job, this job was created by another individual.

Does it make sense to have the server selected in both the "Domains" and "User-defined Selection"

thx

As long as your service account and any user login that manages this back up has full permissions, then this should not really matter.

Generally you only use the user defined selection if you have specific shares that are not already apart of your domain for example, a NAS share.

Hope this helps.

Your feedback cleared up some of my thoughts. I am unchecking the cookies folder on both selections and hopefully this should get fixed by tonight. I will keep you posted.

Thanks again
