HP 1055CM printer won't print out PDF

I have a HP 1055CM plus printer connected to a Windows SBS 2003 network. The printer gets stuck printing out a PDF with a job size of 137.25" long. There is a 2.5' blank portion of the page between the middle of the print job to the end.

This is a custom size PDF but I can't figure out if this is an issue due to problems with the resources we have in the printer, or is this a desktop computer operating system issue. Being that we're printing from Windows 7 to the 1055cm and there isn't a driver available for Windows 7 from HPs site.

Any ideas if this issue where the print job printing a white block 2.5' long in between the start and the end of the job is a driver issue or a issue of compatability with the printer and Windows 7?

Try selecting "Print as Image" under the Advanced button in the Print dialogue box.
If you view a print preview do you see the missing block?  Have you tried to print another file format of the same size to see if this is specific to the format?

The print as image actually kills the job. The job errors out and the print spooler crashes on the local system.

I have not tried another file format.
I can print to a Ricoh C3500 but that is a lot different than the large format printer.

I assume the spool file just gets too large when you print as image. I forgot that Windows (all flavours) just hates spool files larger than about 500MB, and a large format plot becomes a *huge* image. So scratch that idea.

The 1055CM supports several different languages (HPGL, RTL, PostScript, etc). You could try the driver for one of the other languages. See:

The Windows 7 integrated driver for the 1055cm doesn't suport different flavors. I think the customer is just going to replace the 1055.

Issue not 100% resolved but client is going to purchase another printer, a newer model with different technology and support for Windows 7
