Chinese Characters in Outlook 2003 within Citrix

Hey Experts,

I have a rather weird one here...well to me anyway.

I have a user who is connecting to Citrix from home and whenever he access Outlook to type an email, the characters are displayed as Chinese font. He doesn't have this problem when using Word or any other application, just Outlook.

First thing I did was jump on the Citrix server to ensure the Chinese/Asian Language packs are not installed. And they aren't.

Next thing I did was to get him to use Word as the email editor, based on the theory that if it works fine in Word, it should work fine when using Word as the Outlook editor. I was wrong.

Now, he uses the font on his Local PC so I don't want to remove it from his PC.

This could be a really simple fix, but I am lost as to where to go from here. Google doesn't really help with this as the results come up with "Enable Chinese characters in Outlook" or "Uninstall Chinese language".

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Running:

XenApp 5.0 on Windows Server 2008 SP1
Microsoft Outlook 2003 Initial Release

This is only affecting this one user and no one else.

I think I may have found my fix:

Overriding terminal server/citrix client Keyboard Layout:

Use this registry key to completely ignore the keyboard layout of a TS/ICA Client. The server's default keyboard is always used:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
'IgnoreRemoteKeyboardLayout'=dword:00000001"

I will give that a go and let you all know if it works.
