MS Excel Plot Area Formatting

Hi

We want to represent data on a scatter graph with the plot area formatted with multiple(custom) quadrants. For example, the plot area in the range
x: -20% - 0
y: 0 - 5
should have one colour while another range, say,
x: -20% - 0
y: 5 - 10
should have another colour.
We should be able to change these ranges somehow (so using a jpeg as the background would not really work).
The attached (kinda) shows what I mean.
Hope this is clear!
Thanks a mil
Alan

I would suggest that Jon Peltier's site is the best place to start - particularly this section: http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/BackgroundFill.html
which relates to various background formatting techniques, including quadrant fills.
