Exchange 2007 SP3 - Messge and records management - deleted items

Yesterday i setup a policy using MRM to delete items from the deleted items folder (only). I tried this on one user and was successful (started the process manually)  then i tried it on another user and this time set the policy to run over night from 12:00 am to 4:00 am.

It worked great! it deleted 40K items (all as expcted) except it looks like 20K + "read receipts" were sent by the exchange server to various internal and external users. Can anyone confirm that it supposed to work that way? if so how do i block the read recipts when the message has been deleted from the deleted items folder and when done so by MRM?

Thanks!!

Thanks for the reply. However do you know anything about MRM sending a "not read" receipt to the internal users? when MRM deletes a message?

It turns out that only 148 "Not read" receipts were sent and not 20K+ but i would like like to know if when MRM deletes a message its supposed to generate a read/not read receipt.
