No such interace supported error in IE8

It started in IE9 and I rolled IE back to version 8. What I am trying to do is to get a little calendar to open to select a date. It looks like it is running a sript called cal2.js. The error shows up in the bottom left corner of the browser and when I double click it, I see No such interace supported error. The operating system is Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. This is happening in IE8 32 bit with no Addons and with IE8 32bit. IE8 64 bit works fine. The calendar pops up without any errors. I have tried serveral options and still the error when using the 32 bit version. I have tried reregistering DLL's, disabling features, running in Compatability mode and uninstalling and reinstalling IE. By the way, the pop ups also work fine when using Firefox and Chrome. It is only on this brand new system We are setting up another identicle system and so far it works fine. I am thinking that we installed something that may be causing this. That is all I can come up with right now. Sure would appreciate any help with this. Thanks
