Resinstall Window 2008 DC

My Window 2008 DC is down and I don't have backup. I need to reinstall it with the same original name.

There is another Window 2003 DC on my domain. How I need to do anything before I install the Window 2008 DC using the same name.

Thanks

So, can I to sieze the fsmo on the Window 2003 DC, because I couldn't access the Window 2008DC any more ?

Thanks
Darius Ghassem

Yes you want to seize the roles from the failed DC onto a functioning DC.

run netdom /query fsmo to see where the roles are now

Only the PDC role are on the Window 2008 DC. So, I need to move that role to the Window 2003, correct ?

One more thing, there is a Window 2008 RODC on the remote side. By doing this, will that affect the RODC on the remote site ? Will it keep sychronization with the Window 2003 even though the Window 2008 DC has gone.

Thanks

The Windows 2008 Server is already gone, right? Doesn't matter since the DC is down.

Sieze the roles from the failed DC.
