In Server 2008 there should be an optoin to Add Roles on the right under the Roles summary.

However, if you are installing Sharepoint 2010 Foundation, which is the free version SharePoint(the only difference between the free version of SharePonit and the paid version is the paid version has additions for more robust server farms and more redundancy) When the setup program starts up there is an option in the first screen to have the setup wizard automaticaly enable any Roles that need to be turned on.

I have Windows Server 2008 on the server, it is for only one server.  So I installed the WSS 2008..are you suggesting that I should have installed the Sharepoint 2010 Foundation on the Windows Server 2008?  I didnt know that I could do that...hopefully not too late...

So what I want to do is that I have a domain...and I want to create a ticket tracking between a customer service department and IT team to handle ongoing issues...is there some link to help me with that?

You can install either i suppose (WSS 2008 or SharePoint 2010 Foundation) 2010 foundation is a more robust platform with more capibilities. It is also better geared for how Microsoft is trying to incorporate its Office products and the changes with Exchange.
Experts Exchange is like having an extremely knowledgeable team sitting and waiting for your call. Couldn't do my job half as well as I do without it!
