How to best clear Exchange 2007 data from a mobile device

I have a mobile device that has been connected to an Exchange 2007 mailbox and I now want to clear of all data.
Does anyone know (categorically) if it is better to delete data & cache on the device or to send a "Perform a remote wipe to clear mobile device data" from the Exchange 2007 user's mailbox?

Thanks!

Thanks for the help. I tried the remote wipe from the Exchange mbox and it completely wiped a test device back to factory default.
