Window 7 RDP

Have a home network using wireless router.
I would like to rdp one of my window 7 laptop. the ip is 192.168.1.4
and I also enable the RDP by using computer>>Property>>Remote tab
to enable the RDP.

When I put 192.168.1.4 for rdp, it alerts me computer not found....

Where are you trying to connect to your home laptop from ?

If you are connecting from outside the router LAN then let me know - that IP will not work.

IF you are within your home LAN and you are trying to RDP from a Windows XP machine you need to change the Remote tab settigns on your Windows 7 machine to:

"Allow connection from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)".
Hi Webboy2008,

I know this is probably not what you were asking, but I would use LogMeIn instead of RDP.  The free version does everything that RDP does (and more) and manages to sort out with ease any IP/Firewall etc issues.  Thieir website is LogMeIn.com

If it is used within the Home LAN then no extra tool is needed. If it is outside - you could always just use TeamViewer which is secure and needs no configurations. I use it to to connect to my home computer from work and I also use it with clients are remote support.
Which version of Windows 7 are you using on your laptop? The Home version of windows 7 doesn't support RDP.

On the machine you are trying to RDP into.... Paste the following commands into a CMD prompt.... Post the output...

Will confirm it is enabled....

Also, can you ping that machine from the other one?

Winkey+R>cmd

ping 192.168.1.4

Does it time out, or show "reply received".....?
reg query "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server" /v fDenyTSConnections >rdp.txt
notepad rdp.txt
echo.

It has nothing to do with ASP.NET, why assign it to Programming with ASP.NET zone?
