how can i get rid of babylon?

I updated my Windows 7 OS by downloading a whole lot of upgrades.
This has resulted in :
1.   Babylon being loaded
2.  My screen configuration means that the vertical scroll bar has disappeared.
I have tried going through Control Panel to remove Babylon but this would enable mje onlytoremove thedesktop icon.
Please suggest what I can doabout both issues.
Thanks

Depending on your web browser you should be able to go into something like Tools - Manage add-ons and disable it.
I believe some people find babylon very useful. I don't know what it might have come with - always read the small print when installing/updating software and look for opt-in tick boxes that are ticked by default.

personally, anything that involves a user being told to download a new (to them) piece of software and disable antivirus before running it is not good...

"personally, anything that involves a user being told to download a new (to them) piece of software and disable antivirus before running it is not good... "

It depends what program you are downloading and running. In the case of ComboFix it is recommended to stop security shield since they interfere with the ComboFix scan.
If you're worried about viruses getting in, the scan won't take long and ComboFix disconnects internet connection while it's scanning.

Yes, it is not good when an Expert suggests the user to download a program that the expert knows nothing about and give a dodgy link or let the user google for the program.

I'm not sure what you mean 'lost your antivirus', combofix will never delete an antivirus.
If you post the combofix logfile we can see what files combofix had deleted and can also restore any deleted files or revert what CF had done if necessary.

hi
I disabled the anti virus and then I could not get it back.
II tried to createthe logfile but was not able to.
I think this might have been due to the fact that I had downloaded Combofix about two months ago when I was first "hit" by Babylon.
So Icannotsend you the logfile.
rpggamergirl

The combofix logfile is automatically created after a successful run usually located in C:\combofix.txt

"I think this might have been due to the fact that I had downloaded Combofix about two months ago..."

For future reference:
Please do not run an outdated version of combofix, it's not a good idea. Each time you cleanup an infected system and you want to use combofix you need to download a fresh copy because combofix is updated often (daily or as necessary). It has an expiration days of 10 days and when you run and expired version it will then run on "reduced functionality mode".

You need to uninstall combofix, if you haven't yet.
To uninstall comboFix, just run the below command:

Combofix /Uninstall
