Zip your last 3 *.dmp files and attach the zip file in your next comment.

thanks guys/////

how do i find the *.dmp
and yes... i think it started after server installed a bunch of updates....

btw... there is no system yet... only server it self... not even office yet..... so if we think reinstall for saftey   it is no biggie.... i just do not want to spend hours to then find i have hardware....

also my first experiance with Gigabyte... should i have went with Asus   like every other no trouble machine i have ever built..
( i know i just wrote a few questions... .. take any, take all )
Open System in the Control Panel, then select Advanced Settings, then under Startup and Recovery, Settings, it should show you what types of memory dumps are made and where they are saved at. If the setting isn't already minidump, make sure you select that, otherwise the files will be very large. Also the dmp's are usually hidden files, so make sure you can see hidden files.

ok,

i got the dump file....

to clarify, i never installed a driver from the windows update... but rather only the cd which came with the MB.... but i do regularly load any thing windows update comes up with.  is that a BOZO no no

i found the event viewer, but was not able to figure out how to make head to toe from it...:)

the dump file is huge.... like   200 MGs.... it will not allow me to up load it.
Download the drivers from the manufacturer's site, they are usually more current than those on the CD, and the issue you have is likely to be a driver issue.

Change your setting to create minidumps, not full dumps, and then wait until your system has crashed 3 times, then zip those new dumps and upload them.
ok,

explain minidumps....how do i get that going..?
drivers so i should go to the manufactures web site.... or should i just reload the disk that came with the system from safe mode?
I explained the minidump part in my second post.

No, download all the drivers from the website and install those. Don't use the CD, as the drivers on the CD are usually outdated.
bear with me through this...

i can not ge the drivers form the gigabyte site..... it just does not bring me where i want to be..... can u try  please...and send a link..

GA-768MA-d2H-B3

the machine is in process of three crashes.. i will post as soon as i get them..

As there don't seem to be 2008 drivers available for that board, if you are installing 2008r2 try the Windows 7 (x64) drivers, if it is not the r2 version you can also try the vista drivers.
ok,

it stopped the BSOD  on it's own.... it ran service pack 1   how long would you go untill you actually trusted the machine?

No easy way to tell, as it can depend on how the PC is utilized.
Rindi,

nice to see you out here.. youhave helped me before.... :)

have you had a BSOD   and then changed a driver.. and lived happily ever after... or does it usually never get fixed.?

A new driver has often helped. But it depends on the BSOD. The minidump files can sometimes help pinpoint the issue.
then for now i am going to close this question.....    but thans so much for being out here and helping peple like me..
both of you...   :)
