This switch appears to be a great deal with 48 ports, POE, and Gigabit for $1700

What do you mean if you used Catalyst switches it will take longer to do what you want to do?

Does it have the Express setup?
ryan80

You can look at the admin guide to see the interface. These switches run off of a GUI and not the Catalyst IOS. You will be configuring the guide through the web interface rather than the CLI.

What is the downside to using a Small Business switch other than no CLI?

Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.

It is just going to be a matter of the feature set and the perfomance. You will get more features, but if you dont need them, why pay for them? Also there may be some performance differences in the maximum amount of data that can go through the backplane, but unless you are running ever port at full speed non stop it will most likely not be an issue.

But what features don't you get? I see you get POE, Vlans, ect..
ryan80

if you dont need it, dont worry about it. It is going to have all of the basic features and then a lot more. Unless you are specifically looking for something, then dont worry about. It will be highly unlikely that you will be missing features that you need if you are not already looking for them. For instance this switch does not support BGP or other dynamic routing protocols (I would hope that if you use this within your network that you would be looking for these features).

Here is a link to a brief overview of the 3750 data sheet. It goes over some of the features that it has if you want to look through it.
