SQL Server 2008 Installation

Hi There,

I am trying to install SQL Server R2 and got this error.

msigetproductinfo failed to retrive ProductVersion for package with Product Code = '{1A528690-6A2D-4BC5-8C4AE8D19D96}'.Error code:1605

any advice?

I tried the same steps, but i couldn't find the key){1A528690-6A2D-4BC5-8C4AE8D19D96}) in the registry editor when I searched.

Which SQL Server 2008 R2 version are you trying to install? Is it a clean installation or an upgrade? Do you find 096825A1 or 096825A1-6A2D-4BC5-8C4AE8D19D96 under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer\UpgradeCodes? If you find it, delete the parent key and rerun setup.
You might have to do this multiple times because it's possible that it will show you a different GUID the next try. Just repeat the procedure above. Don't forget to "Byte reverse the first part" as mentioned in the link!
