The Active Directory Certificate Services service terminated with service-specific error 3355444416

Sbs 2008 server. As soon as the service starts it immediately stops with this error in the event viewer...
The Active Directory Certificate Services service terminated with service-specific error 3355444416

Also the add a trusted certificate wizard in the sbs console crashes with a unknown error.

The above error is the only error I am getting in Event Viewer.

In the sbs console under web server certificate the status is unknown.

A go daddy cert is installed and working properly for exchange. Outlook anywhere is working properly. OWA is working properly. I have no clue why I am getting this error.

Any thoughts?

- Does there are any other errors in event log?

- What is the Operating System Version?

- Does the Certificate Service is in Started State?

may be your Ca Database is corrupt
Restore from the backup.
If you do not have backup then repair the CA database and regenrate the private key

ASKER

the service crashes on startup and anytime u manually start.

I'll look at the restore / repair as soon as I can. thanks for the link
https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23558433/Recent-MS-updates-have-killed-Certificate-services-on-startup-for-SBS2003.html talks about using the CEICW wizard to help recreate the certificate.

The wizard crashes and just asks me if I want to send a report to Microsoft. the fix network wizard runs with out errors but does not fix my service problem from above.

im still looking and playing around - with my luck it was a update that me dorked it all up..
