It is a Fast Ethernet port using an Intel chipset.

It is used for management, or and internal interface http://www.juniper.net/techpubs/en_US/junos10.4/topics/concept/interfaces-without-cos-support-cos-config-guide.html?searchid=1237188227383

The name comes from the BSD driver name.
