Printing speed issues

Hi

We have been having printer issues all week where jobs are taking 10 minutes to coe out or not coming out at all though the problem is only affecting certain people on the network.

Last weekend I upgraded the NIC drivers on the server so it was running at 1gbps instead of 100mbps.  All of the client PCs are still at 100mbps so could this be causing the issue?  It's the only think that has changed before this issue started.

Thanks in advance.

The simple test would be to put them back.  NIC's have something called "Autonegotiation" that sometimes doesn't come up with the best answer.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Autonegotiation  Here's a trouble shooting page also.  http://www.appliedtrust.com/resources/performance/untangling-ethernet-performance-problems

Changed the server NIC back to 100mbps and seems to be ok.  I might try upgrading the cards in the PCs and trying again.

Thanks for the advise.

You're welcome.  You may need to upgrade any switches in that network also and possibly routers.  One of the notes in the articles was about different manufacturers doing things slightly differently and that causing problems so using NICs from the same manufacturer could help.
