I thought it was working but once I made it live it is not working....maybe I will check the settings.
You know I even went in and checked the Menu type and it says Articles Archive.. why is it not working?

Try turning off search engine friendly links, clear cache and see what happens.
ok I will try it
Ok, I did that now I can open items but it does not show any of the stories> Is there a way to move the archives over to K2? And then set up an Archived K2 section.

I am using Joomla 1.7 and K2 version v2.5
It doesn't show the stories?
Sure if you move the articles and don't depend on the archiving feature then it's a simple fix to just do that work.
Is there an Archiving feature for K2? Maybe that would fix the issue.. Otherwise how can I get the stories showing?
sorry I thought you meant publishing each story and creating a pseudo archive. I don't much about k2.
Ok, well now I had to turn on the keep Search Engine Friendly URLs, because I turned them off to make the archives worked which only allowed me to open the stories with no stories there, and then the rest of the site did not work, none of my plugins - it started going haywire. So.. now my archives say under maintenance.. What do I do?

Ok, I think I can do that.. I just hope there may be another fix - is there any plugin that could solve this problem?
No, I mean there's a bug in the system that requires attention.
How do I diagnose this? What I did is I still have the old site - but I changed all the menu items to the new site and am using old archives currently. But this is a temporary fix. Let me know how to fix the issue.

Ok, The old site is technically active at this point in time, but I have the domain name pointing to the new website. The old site I went in and changed all of the links so if they click on archives it is still bringing up the new site, otherwise it would direct them to the old site and the navigation would be the old site. I pretty much put a bandaid on the current problem. I want to actually fix it.
