Why doesn't my ActiveSync 4.5 work with my Windows XP Pro SP3?
This is a known problem so I knew it would happen again, precisely the same pattern as last time:
I install ActiveSync 4.5 on my Windows XP Pro SP3 so that I can synchronize my PDA, a HP iPAQ 214 Enterprise (running on Windows Mobile 6.0 Classic). It works perfectly fine the first days, but, just as happened each time earlier, thereafter I can not connect the device anymore. It says "Not connected" all the time, even though nothing in the configuration has been changed.
I googled this a long time ago and found out that ActiveSync works very badly with Windows XP and the only solution is to use Windows Mobile Device Center (which can only be used with Windows Vista).
So my question is if my only solution is to partition my Windows XP Pro SP3 and install Windows Vista on one partition where I can install Windows Mobile Device Center?
